Oahu in Photos

Once we get past those really ignorant thoughts some people have that Hawaii consists of people who live in huts, we then have to deal with more ignorant thoughts that Oahu is entirely just like Waikiki.  Here are a few photos that show Oahu's variety.

One of several fruit stands while traveling through the North Shore.

North Shore ranch.

All the pineapple merchandise in the world under one roof at the Dole Plantation.

What a real baby pineapple looks like.

And this would be considered an adolescent pineapple.
Hidden gems as you tour the Dole Plantation gardens.

With the top down double rainbows are easy to catch.

So much good food.  Liliha Bakery on the outskirts of town offer lots of baked treats. Including Green Tea Puffs - sister to the incredibly popular Liliha Coco Puff.

Stands along the road sneak up on you - keep your eyes open and don't be afraid to explore.

Master woodcarvers making items from huge to small and affordable (I got a hammerhead shark carving for $20).

Expect some oversize luggage fees if you purchase this.  It's at least 15 feet high.

Not your typical night in Waikiki.  They close the vehicle traffic along Kalakaua Avenue during the annual Waikiki Ho'olaule'a.

Lots of local food vendors at the Ho'olaule'a.

National Cemetery of the Pacific (informally known as 'Punchbowl' Cemetery since it's located in Punchbowl crater).

Plumeria flowers at Punchbowl Cemetery.
